Since oil’s discovery in 1938, the Government of Kuwait had always strived to involve the local private sector and employ the national workforce. KPC, as the leading organization of national oil companies in Kuwait, had recently adopted a comprehensive and integrated local content strategy, where KPC and its subsidiaries play a key role in growing and diversifying the national economy and creating value-added jobs.
Increasing local content in the oil sector is the aim. The local content strategy has four objectives: (1) increase the percentage of local services and products used in the oil sector projects; (2) develop the capabilities of suppliers of local oil companies; (3) encourage the creation of new forward and backward linking industries; and (4) create direct and indirect job opportunities for local manpower in the oil sector.
The Local Content in the Oil Sector – Conference & Exhibition to be held on 13th February 2017 at the Hilton Kuwait Resort under the patronage of Mr. Essam Abdul Mohsen Al-Marzouq, Minister of Oil & Minister of Electricity & Water , is one of the important activities of the KPC local content strategy. The theme of the conference Promising Opportunities for the Private Sector reveals its main objective.
